A distributed resistance inverse method for flow obstacle identification from internal velocity measurements

Abstract We present a penalization parameter method for obstacle identification in an incompressible fluid flow modified version of the Oseen equations. The proposed consists adding high resistance potential to system such that some subset its boundary support represents obstacle. This allows work fixed domain and highly simplify solution inverse problem via suitable cost functional. Existence minimizers first second order optimality conditions are derived through differentiability solutions equation with respect potential. Finally, several numerical experiments using Navier–Stokes illustrate applicability method, localization bi-dimensional cardiac valve from MRI ultrasound type imaging data.
